Alan J. Hoffman, CPA, is a Partner in Janover, LLC a CPA firm with offices in Manhattan and Garden City, New York. Alan specializes in Accounting, Tax, and Business Consulting to many Real Estate Companies, Professional Companies and High Net Worth Individuals and Families. Previously, Mr. Hoffman was the Partner in charge of the Real Estate and High Net Worth Services Group at Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP, and Managing Partner of Shanholt Glassman Hoffman Klein & Co CPAs, until it's merger with Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP in 1999. Mr. Hoffman specializes in all real estate transactions, including development and construction, rental operations, sales or exchanges, management, brokerage, etc. He advises high-net-worth individuals, developers and others on all types of real estate, including residential (including, cooperatives and condominiums), office and industrial buildings, shopping centers and vacant land held for investment and/or development.
As a tax and business advisor to companies, professionals and individuals for 30 years, Mr. Hoffman has addressed a wide range of tax and related issues, including structuring deals to reduce his client’s income tax and estate tax liability, increase profitability, finance their acquisitions and refinance their debt. Additionally, Mr. Hoffman works closely with select High Net Worth Individuals to oversee their portfolios and offer valuable business and personal advice including tax and estate planning.
A licensed certified public accountant in New York and Florida, Mr. Hoffman is the former chairman of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Real Estate Committee, a committee in which he has been active for over 20 years. Mr. Hoffman is also the past chairman of the Foundation for Accounting Education’s Annual Real Estate Conference, a position he has held for over 10 years, and a member of the AIPCA Real Estate Committee. He has taught real estate accounting at the New York University School of Continuing Education, has given lectures on accounting and tax matters, and helped author the Common Interest Realty Associates Guide issued by the AICPA. Additionally, he serves on the boards of several charitable organizations.
Mr. Hoffman earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Brooklyn College.
