David provides personalized service to individuals and businesses in tax consulting, tax compliance and controversy, business advisory, and tax planning.  Most recently David launched a specialized practice group, the Domestic Partners Network. Through the advisory and services of a select group of multi-disciplinary professionals, the DPN offers a comprehensive approach to advising unmarried and same-sex couples, and non-traditional families, in the areas of tax compliance, estate and investment planning, insurance and healthcare, and family planning. 

As an individual and small business tax practitioner, David focuses on high net worth individuals, executives, professional services, and the performing arts.

Previously, David was a Director in the tax department at Citrin Cooperman & Company LLP in their New York City office.  Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, David began his accounting career as a business manager and consultant in 1984.  Five years later he co-founded a management and tax services practice, Sterling Warren Ltd.  The following sixteen years of growth and mergers resulted in the successor CPA firm, Flowers & Becker LLP, where David was a principal managing tax compliance.

Mr. Spaulding holds a BA from Binghamton University (NY) and an MFA from Temple University (PA).  With over twenty-six years experience in taxation, David is an Enrolled Agent, licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service and more recently a certification as a CHARTERED RETIREMENT PLANNING COUNSELOR SM   .  He is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals.

David has served for seventeen years as state treasurer and member of the executive board of Common Cause New York (national non-partisan, political organization focusing on good-government issues).  For twelve years he has served as treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the Foundation for Small Voices (children's services and education charity).  David is entering his third year as treasurer of the Montclair Jewish Workshop (secular, Jewish-based cultural community group).  And as a patron of the arts, he is a founding director and treasurer of Scripts UP! (twelve year old non-profit theatre development group producing new works for the stage). David resides in New Jersey with his wife, two children and a dog.
