The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services has announced individuals and businesses throughout the state can pay back taxes at a reduced rate with no penalties through January 31, 2022, as part of its tax amnesty program.
The program, launched November 1, provides a 75% reduction in interest and waives penalties for those who have not filed or under reported or have existing liabilities related to taxes owed for any tax period ending on or before December 31, 2020. Except for the Connecticut motor carrier road tax (IFTA), all taxes administered by the Connecticut DRS are eligible for amnesty.
Taxpayers seeking amnesty can access all program information, including a link to the secure online payment portal myconneCT, at GetRightCT.com.
Applications for amnesty must be filed electronically and payment made in full by January 31, 2022. Taxpayers will be liable for the full tax, penalty, and interest on any amount owed after that date.
