Michael Benguigui, CPA is a Principal at Janover with 15 years of experience providing tax compliance, tax-saving opportunities and transactional support to businesses and high net worth individuals. Michael joins the firm after a decade of experience with national accounting firms. As a member of the firm’s real estate group, Michael works with real estate owners and operators, real estate funds, Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), and contractors.
His services include tax structuring and compliance of business organizations that hold real estate investments, including partnerships, S-Corporations, Co-op entities, C-Corporations and REITs, helping to minimize the tax impact of restructuring debt and workouts. Michael also helps plan and structure investments with qualified opportunity funds and joint venture arrangements, including property development. He supports and advises on equity reorganizations of real estate partnerships.
In addition to providing analysis on the tax consequences of sales and purchases of real estate, Michael analyzes cost segregation studies, and conducts analysis and implementation of section 1031 like-kind exchange transactions and tangible property regulations. He leads REIT compliance and testing support, assists in structuring and compliance flow-through entities with partners who are either foreigners or tax-exempt, and planning related to disguised sale transactions.
Michael received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Touro College.
