Michael Gershon, CPA, MBA, MST is a senior tax partner in the firm’s real estate group. He is a trusted advisor with over 30-years of experience crafting and implementing creative solutions for high net worth, multigenerational, entrepreneurial family groups focusing on wealth creation and preservation utilizing innovative tax strategies while providing income tax planning, business advisory services, and succession planning.
Michael’s experience is broad based as he has a record of success working with clients on a wide range of issues in many industries. He has extensive experience integrating the business, income tax, and estate and succession planning objectives of his clients. Michael has also successfully handled many tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and various state and local jurisdictions.
Michael is skilled at building and sustaining relationships with his clients and other service providers. He believes that it is important to work collaboratively with his client’s other trusted advisor and to bring in outside expertise when necessary to develop the best possible solutions for his clients.
Michael has authored various articles on tax related topics for the CPA Journal and Crain’s New York. He has been a presenter and panelist numerous times on Qualified Opportunity Zones. He also led various seminars on reporting losses from ponzi schemes for CPAAcademy.org, CCH and other industry groups.
Michael earned both a Master of Science degree in Taxation and an MBA in Public Accounting from Fordham University. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University. Michael is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs.
Michael is married to Dr. Lisa Zaretsky. Michael and Lisa have three children and live in Lido Beach, New York.
